Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is a series of action-adventure games created by David Jones and Mike Dailly.[2] Later titles were developed under the oversight of brothers Dan and Sam Houser, Leslie Benzies and Aaron Garbut. It is primarily developed by British development house Rockstar North (formerly DMA Design), and published by its parent company, Rockstar Games. The name of the series references the term "grand theft auto", used in the United States for motor vehicle theft.

Subsequent games that follow this formula of driving and shooting have been called "Grand Theft Auto clones". Some reviewers even extended this label to the Driver series, even though this series began years before the release of Grand Theft Auto III.[220] Grand Theft Auto clones are a type of 3D action-adventure game,[221][222][223][224][225] where players are given the ability to drive any vehicle or fire any weapon as they explore an open world.[226] These games often incorporate violent and criminal themes. Notable games that are comparable to Grand Theft Auto are Saints Row,[227] Scarface: The World Is Yours,[228] True Crime: Streets of LA,[229][230] Watch Dogs,[231] Sleeping Dogs,[232] Just Cause,[233] Mafia[234] and The Godfather.[235]

GTA: San Andreas seems to suffer from the most mission-related bugs and glitches at the moment due to the sheer number of activities in that game, but even the missions in some of the older games occasionally suffer from strange technical issues.

A lot of the new gameplay features in GTA San Andreas were only made possible by these advancements in the scripting language. For example, the 2D-based casino and console games weren't viable in GTA Vice City until a host of heads-up display sprite commands were added during the development of GTA San Andreas. "There were also very few custom animations used during missions in GTA Vice City, but for GTA San Andreas we had a brand-new animation scripting interface." This system allowed the designers to implement animation-heavy gameplay coded entirely within the scripting language, such as in the pool game, the basketball odd job, the parachute, and in numerous other areas.[2]

Successfully complete the final mission in the main storyline to unlock mission-specific costumes for all three characters, including the black outfits from stealth missions, guard uniforms from the final mission, and police uniforms. To unlock all shirts, get a 100% game completion.

At a certain point during the game, you will need a password to access to the "" in-game website. This will happen when Franklin receives a mysterious "My Divine Within" text. It is part of the "Children Of The Mountain" mission. The password to the website is "futility". Additionally, later in the mission-line, you will need to answer a word puzzle. The answers are as follows: Divine, Completeness, Orthodoxy, Process, Realization.

Of course, "Grand Theft Auto" was just the beginning, but so much of what makes the series special was there from the start. The core concept of marrying linear action-packed levels with exploration and experimentation went a long way. The words "Wasted" and "Busted" are iconic now, and have appeared consistently in the franchise ever since. The years have taken a toll on the original "Grand Theft Auto," but its influence cannot be understated.
